The Manor CE Academy Rewards and House System aims to ensure that all students are known and cared for as individuals to enable them to make outstanding progress.
Manor Rewards
The Manor CE Academy prodigious rewards system is multi-tiered, with a positive attitude to learning and service to the school celebrated on individual collective successes.
Reward tickets
Throughout the school term, teachers distribute green and gold tickets to students who exhibit an excellent attitude to learning. Once a student has been awarded with a ticket, they add it to a prize draw of their choice. Prizes change throughout the year, but have included £20-50 vouchers for Amazon, ASOS and One4All.
Year 11s have the opportunity to also earn purple revision tickets, which are entered into weekly draws for school-based prizes, such as free treats from the canteen or a free leavers' hoodie.
With students feeding back that reward tickets are one of their favourite aspects of Manor, we are now looking at ways to expand our ticketing system to make it even bigger and better!
Awards and recognition
Half Term Hero awards are nominated by staff who are keen to recognise the hard work of individual students at Manor. These are awarded in the end of half term assemblies, with each student receiving a coveted gold ticket.
We recognise the importance of communicating success not only to the students themselves, but also to parents. During their time at Manor, students may receive a postcard home with praise from one of their teachers for their wonderful attitude to learning.
Merits
Students will receive merits in lessons and around school for making positive contributions to the school and classroom. Merits can be spent in the school’s Merit Shop, which is filled with everything from stationery to games.
Every week, form tutors reward their Merit Lead with a lunch pass, allowing top achievers to skip the lunch queue.
Student Council
At Manor CE Academy, we are unique in having an active and vocal Student Council that represents the voices of each and every student. Through regular meetings and discussions, representatives have the opportunity to feedback ideas and suggestions directly to the Principal.
Students are also encouraged to proactively champion their passions and interests, with opportunities to be involved in charity initiatives and projects.
Manor Houses
When joining Manor CE Academy, students enter one of the four Houses: Abbey, King’s, Stuart, and Wentworth. All four have historical links to the academy. Sir Thomas Wentworth invited King Charles I (House of Stuart) to stay at the King’s Manor, located near St Mary’s Abbey. King’s Manor was, from 1813 to 1922, home to Manor and it was this historic city centre building from which the academy first took its name.
There are a wide range of House events throughout the year, including; form tasks, house competitions and sporting events. These, along with Merits earned, Attitude to Learning and Attendance add points towards the House Championship. At the end of each year the victorious House receives the House Championship Trophy and celebrates their success with a rewards event.
All of which are aimed to help each and every student at Manor CE Academy to ‘live life to the full’, acknowledge their success and celebrate achievement.
