At Manor CE Academy, we believe that all students should be supported to grow together by creating an inclusive and equitable environment for all, in line with our Christian values. Students should be equipped with a toolkit to live life to the full regardless of any specific needs, disadvantage or circumstance.
Our Unified Support Pathways package provides a consistent and thorough approach to supporting students with specific barriers to learning, with the needs of the student at the centre of all decisions made.
We work with and support students with a wide range of additional needs including, Dyslexia, physical difficulties, speech language and communication difficulties, Autism, ADHD and more general learning difficulties as well as hearing and visual impairment.
Our school building is fully accessible and DDA compliant.
The Hub
The Hub is at the heart of the school building and provides a space to support students with specific barriers to learning throughout the school day. This includes targeted interventions, structured spaces such as our sensory room and a supported space at breaktimes and lunchtimes. It is also a base for the key staff within the SEND department so that we are accessible for students when they need us.
The Hub also includes an dedicated, enclosed, outdoor space for students at break and lunch who may find the main playground overwhelming.
Unified Support Pathways
Unified Support Pathways provides a consistent and thorough approach to supporting students with specific barriers to learning, this includes all students on the SEND Register. Each of our three pathways is designed to equip all students with the support they need to thrive in school both in and out of the classroom. The following support will be in place for all students on any of our pathways:
- A Pupil Passport to communicate to school staff the specific needs of your child including specific reasonable adjustments and provisions.
- One to one student check-ins with a key member of staff at least once a term to review what is working well and set targets for the following term.
- Online parents evenings six times a year. This is an opportunity to share any information with us that may be helpful, discuss how your child is getting on, the provision in place or any concerns you may have.
How we support students through the curriculum
We are committed to narrowing the attainment gap between SEND and non-SEND students. This may include short-term intervention or other interventions developed on an individual needs basis.
We support students with identified needs in lessons or occasionally in smaller group settings. Support is geared to individual needs and the aim in both settings is to develop successful independent learners and happy students. Our curriculum is constantly evolving to reflect the needs of our students.

Consulting with Parents and Young People
All students at Manor have formal consultation points during the year including parents' evenings and academic reports. In addition to this parents of students on the SEND register are invited to additional online parents evenings 6 times a year to discuss ongoing support. Pupil Passports are reviewed and reshared termly.
It is important to us that parents and students are fully involved at each point of the decision making process.

Our SEND Team
The SEND team is made up of two qualified SENCO’s, supported by an experienced SEND administrator, 6 Senior Advanced Teaching assistants, each leading on an area of responsibility covering interventions and support and approximately 10 Advanced teaching assistants delivering support in classrooms.
As a team we meet regularly, share information and continuous professional development as well as meeting with attendance and pastoral colleagues.
Graham Reagan is the SENCo and he maintains the SEN register and leads on all EHCP paperwork and reviews as well as overseeing the exam access arrangements. Mr Reagan line manages the teaching assistant support team and works closely with the local authority SEN team, the educational psychology team and other external support agencies.
Tim Godfrey is also a qualified SENCO and his focus is SEND teaching and Learning. Within the SEN his focus is on sharing high quality information with teaching and support staff and ensuring that in class provision meets our high standards and expectations. Tim also has oversight of key interventions like Fresh Start Phonics, Speechlink and Dyslexia support.
Exams Officer - Mrs Hudson
Mrs Hudson works closely with the SEND team to ensure that the coordination, planning, arrangement and submission process for Exam Access Arrangements for learners across the school runs smoothly. This process follows the JCQ guidelines. A copy of the guidelines can be found on the button below.
If appropriate, we will screen students to see if they qualify for additional Exam Access Arrangements; these are the reasonable adjustments that can be made for an exam candidate, and might include things such as extra time to complete an exam paper, permission to use assistive technology, or provision of rest breaks.
Making contact with the team
For all students on the SEN register there will be half termly opportunities to dial in for a remote conversation about your child, the Passport can be reviewed and updated and parents can share new information about their children. It could be a general catch up around progress or interventions. These meetings give parents the opportunity to raise concerns or share information regularly.
Outside the SEN open days any parent can contact the SEND team via the SEND email.
